Having Fun With American Girl Doll Clothes

So as of lately I've been having a lot of fun making and selling AG doll clothes on Etsy. Here are a couple of things a made last week. I also got a new sewing machine which makes sewing SO much easier and it's now a relaxing hobby for me. 

I've been learning a lot of sewing techniques from making doll clothes and I think I'm ready to make something for myself or my baby. When I do I'll make sure to share!

Dandelion Fields

OMG I haven't posted in so long and that needs to change! Yesterday my princess and I were out playing and she found a dandelion and I was able to capture it. How cute is this? Pin It

The Importance of Packaging

When selling handmade items it's important to stand out from the crowd. But we already knew that. 

With that being said, packaging is a great way to make your shop and products become a little bit more different than the rest. 

There's nothing like getting a package in the mail from an etsy shop and having a pretty package inside the envelope! So here is the packaging I use for my etsy shop. I really love this style with the kraft pillow box and doilies. 

The tag was made by a fellow etsy shop and I love them. They also came with ribbon, which I use to make the bow as well as keeping jewelry together inside the package.

I whip my hair back and forth

Today's post is about Gabi's new hair adventures. Yesterday she let me do something with her hair. Since her hair has been growing slowly I had never really done anything to it, but it has grown a great amount so I decided to make some little twists and add barrettes at the ends.

She LOVED it. All she wanted to do was shake her head and have fin with her new hair. She was so happy.

It's amazing how little and simple things can make a child so happy and full of joy. I wish adulthood was the same lol.

How to Pin on Pinterest CORRECTLY

Ok so the new crave now is Pinterest, and even though it's such a popular way to share photos and articles {or whatever else}, I keep running into pins which have no HOME!!! This means that if I click on a given photo it won't take me to the original website that photo came from.

Let's give credit where it's due please.

I was guilty of this when I first started pinning. Until I tried to go back to what I pinned and COULDN'T! So here is a trick that I learned to make sure I can pin the right way.

Step 1: After pinning, go back to the pinned photo and place your mouse over it to that you can see the edit button.

Step 2: Once at the edit page grab the page's url where the photo came from and add it here.
            NOTE: sometimes there might already be a url there and this url might be the picture itself and NO
            the website. This will most likely apply if you pinned it yourself from another website.

A day at the Lake {Favorite of the week}

I don't have much to say about these {and I don't think I need to}We went to the lake this week and Daddy and Gabi were the center of attention on my camera. I took more photos but these two were my favorites!

Gabi and I

Today I wanted to share some pictures I took this week. This post if featuring baby and mommy ^_^. 

She was in a really good mood and instead of trying to grab the camera she was actually smiling and taking the pictures WITH me instead of fighting against it lol. 

I have yet to meet a baby who love to wear shades as much as Gabi does. She puts them on, then asks me to out on her shoes for her {or she will attempt to do it herself} and goes stand by the door so we can go outside ^_^, she is a very silly child!

I have also started to use Adobe's Lightroom 4 and I LOVE IT. It's so simple to use and to edit my photos.

New Listing and Picture Improvement

So for a while I have been planning on improving the pictures on my shop, and as I mentioned yesterday I went outside and photographed almost all of my inventory (I still have bracelets and a couple of necklaces to do).
The next step would be to improve those pictures with some type of editing software, so I downloaded a free trial for Adobe's Lightroom 4, and I am in love (I'll have a seperate post for my thoughts on it)

So here is what I have so far. I think my shop is FINALLY starting to come together and look more cohesive! I actually love the way the pictures turned out. What do you think? Do you have any suggestions?

Some of my creations

I just wanted to share a small collage of some of the earrings that I've made and have yet to add it to my etsy shop. I have a lot of work to do on my shop, starting with the pictures! I have gotten some feedback that I should use a white background, so that's what I'm working on!

Well for now it's going slow. I got a lightbox on amazon and I'm trying to get used to taking pictures in it. Hopefully by the end of the month all of my listing will have a white background ^_^

DIY American Girl Doll Outfit (Peplum skirt)

This week I have really been into creating outfits for Adriana. This is a great way for me to learn some new sewing techniques! So today I'm bringing you an outfit I made without a pattern {for the skirt at least}!!! I'm so proud of myself, I think this outfit came out great.

For the shirt I used a pattern from Liberty Jane Pattern, which was free and you can find it here. This pattern is FREE!!!! There are a few other free patterns there, along with others for sale. 

I'm even thinking of going as far as making myself a cute little skirt like this lol. It was actually pretty easy to make and super fun too. I;m having a lot of fun learning to make things, especially because by making them I'm saving tons. Gabi also seemed to like the little outfit ^_^.

I made this necklace with some jewelry findings I have laying around and it was simple, just like making a necklace for us, except in a much smaller size. And this lace fabric came from a shirt that was no longer being used. 

Isn't this skirt adorable?

I plan on making another skirt like this for her and I'll attempt to create a tutorial for it. What do you think of this little project?

Bubble Fun

I'm a big girl now!

I can't believe how fast she is growing! Where is the little baby I brought home from the hospital gone to?

Now all she wants to do is brush her teeth, and God help me if I try to help her lol. I took these shots yesterday and I really like them. I think my skills are improving, but I have much to work on.

Thankfully there is this beautiful blogging world, full of wonderful people willing to share what they know.

I have found many great blogs, which I am now following and these weekly challenges are a great way to keep me motivated to take more photos and to improve them.

Well here is Gabi brushing her teeth all on her own, and she is only 16 months ^_^
